EL FAHLI KHADIJA

Marrakech

Born in 1956 in Sidi Kacem, Khadija el Fahli teaches in Casablanca where she lives and works. She has been painting since the high school years. Self-taught as the majority of naive painters are, she has forged a process and has acquired a perception of forms that are only her. It exhibits for the first time and it is at the gallery rbatie D'artlouane, from September 19 to October 10, 2015.

What is obvious at first sight and astonishing at the same time in the pictorial work of Khadija el Fahli, is the type of composition to which it proceeds, which could make speak about this style of painting proper: series of small Colored boxes superimposing and furnishing the whole of the canvas, miniaturized paintings delicately painted and communicating between them by secret luminous and tonal harmonies. The whole is inscribed in a particular scenography on the naive mode: no place is left to the vacuum without it being of the filling; It is indeed a painting of orality whose narrative discourse is interminable.

El Fahli "builds" his works as a good creative tapestry creative, with a strong interest in the decorative aspect of the bright keys and strokes, whose manipulation sometimes takes freaks almost crazy ...

The artist builds but also tells, the huts become discursive windows opening on the traditional Moroccan world, its architecture of yesteryear, its popular culture, its picturesque dress, its local chromatic atmosphere, old Arab-Muslim medina ... El Fahli recreates a social habitus more and more crepuscular, it reminds of the antiquated charm and arouses nostalgia.

Memory is present in this universe to which the childish imagination brings a surplus of freshness. Khadija el Fahli remains faithful to its roots and its identity, it seeks to revalue its profound characteristics as a common heritage to be safeguarded, far from any vain demonstration. An artist to follow.
