ELHOUCINE FARSSAOUI

El Houcine Farssaoui is a moroccan artist, painter and calligrapher who was born in Khouribga in 1968

His adherence in the « Theatrical Life » association of Marrakech in the late 80’s was a real beginning for Farsaoui to be renown as talented and creative calligrapher. He contributed in the success of Al Hamra National Meeting of Theatre in its two first editions as the official calligrapher of the event. Specifically in this period that the poets of the magazine « Poetic Raid » will contact him to work as the magazine’s calligrapher. This contact with the world of poetry will enhance the growing artistic experience of Farsaoui. Its main aspect was in the attachement with the surrealist universe. This experience will then mutate when Farsoui became attached to the book « Al Mawaquif » of the great Sufi poet Muhammad Al Niffari. The mystic and troubled depth of the text will influence his artwork in a concrete way : His calligraphic shapes will gain a freedom, a clarity, a dynamism and a shine that wasn’t found in the early artwork of Farsaoui.
